Every way ScubaDev can help you ship.
No contracts past a calendar month. One honest price per engagement, published here so you can do the math before we ever talk.
A senior engineering bench, on your calendar.
One price, one team, one month at a time. Three tiers are the commercial bench. A fourth tier lives under the Startup Program for bootstrapped founders who cannot yet justify the commercial rate.
One feature at a time, shipped clean.
For product-led teams with a short backlog and a clear one-thing-at-a-time priority stack.
- 40 engineering hours per month
- One active workstream
- Weekly shippable on Fridays
- Shared Slack, live every business day
- Full code ownership, month to month
Parallel workstreams for growing products.
For post-PMF teams shipping features every two weeks across web, mobile, and the back office at the same time.
- 80 engineering hours per month
- Two active workstreams in parallel
- Two shippables per week
- Fractional CTO office hours
- On-call production incident coverage
- Monthly architecture review
A pod that can replace an engineering department.
For funded teams that need a multi-discipline pod without hiring, onboarding, and managing a six-person internal team.
- 160 engineering hours per month
- Multi-discipline pod, four active streams
- Dedicated tech lead and delivery lead
- SOC 2, HIPAA, and PCI workflows
- 24/7 production incident response
- Quarterly executive review
Half the commercial rate. Same engineers.
For founders who shipped a working prototype and need real engineers to make it survive revenue. Six months, five seats, capped on purpose.
- 20 engineering hours per month
- Vibe-code prototype cleanup and handoff
- Biweekly shippable feature
- Six-month runway, one 3-month extension
- 20% off month one if you graduate to Starter
- Full code ownership, no exit fee
The guardrails come standard.
Whatever tier you pick, you get the same engineering discipline. The difference between tiers is capacity and parallelism, never quality of the people on the calls.
Weekly shippables
Every tier ships on a public cadence. You see a working deploy or a PR every Friday, not a status meeting about a status meeting.
Full code ownership
Your GitHub stays yours. Your keys stay yours. Your infrastructure is provisioned in your cloud account. On cancel we hand over the runbook and vanish.
Written everything
Decisions, architecture, trade-offs, incident post-mortems. All written, linked, searchable. No tribal knowledge held hostage by whoever happens to be online.
Month-to-month
No 12-month retainers. No ransom-style exit fees. Give us five business days notice any calendar month and we stand down clean.
14-day first ship
From contract to first deployed feature in two weeks at every tier. Day one is setup and scoping. Day fourteen is production.

Annual savings versus a single senior full-time engineer plus benefits, equity, and load.
Every tier ships production deploys or PRs every Friday, not status meetings about status meetings.
Five business days to stand down. No ransom exit fee. Your code, your keys, your cloud.

The questions we get before the contract.
Is there a trial or a pilot rate?
The closest thing we offer is the App Help Audit at $2,500, which credits 100% toward a Build engagement. For subscription tiers, the shortest commitment is one calendar month. If after month one it is not working, five business days notice and we stand down. We do not discount the first month outside the Startup Program.
How do I cancel? Is there a lockout?
Five business days notice any calendar month. No exit fee. No lockout. Your GitHub stays yours, your keys stay yours, your infrastructure stays in your cloud account. We hand over the runbook on the last day and vanish clean. We do not hold code, infrastructure, or access hostage ever.
What happens when scope changes mid-month?
Small scope changes fit inside your tier hours. Medium scope changes get surfaced in the weekly Friday retro so you can decide to defer them, trim something else, or move up a tier for a month. We write the trade-off down in plain English. No surprise invoices.
How does billing work?
Monthly retainer billed the first business day of the month via ACH or card. Flat-rate engagements bill 50% at kickoff, 50% at delivery. Enterprise Net 30 is available on Deep End and Custom tiers. Invoices come from Laguna Foundry, the parent company, on a Stripe invoice or wire depending on preference.
How long is the contract?
The subscription tiers are month-to-month by default. The Startup Program is a six-month commitment with a one-time three-month extension available, capped at nine months total. Flat-rate engagements run until delivery. White-label retainers are month-to-month with optional annual rate-lock for a small discount.
Do I own the code?
Yes. Always. The source code is yours on delivery and stays in your GitHub org from day one. No escrow, no licensing games, no "the code is yours but only on platforms we host." You can fork it, take it to another vendor, or archive it. We just believe we build it better than anyone else you will find at this price point.
Can I mix engagements, like subscription plus App Upkeep?
Yes. Subscription dev and App Upkeep work on separate codebases for a lot of clients. AI Implementation often runs alongside Subscription Dev for teams that want both the AI layer and custom features on the same app. The Dive call is where we sketch the combo that fits.
Why is the pricing not negotiable?
Because when it is negotiable, the engineer on the kickoff is not the engineer on the PR. Agencies that cut rates make it up in rework, junior labor, and ticket churn. Our rates are the rates, published here so you can do the math before we ever talk. If the rates are wrong for your stage, the Startup Program exists for exactly that reason.
Pick a slot. We talk in plain English.
30 minutes, one call, no pitch deck. You tell us what you are trying to ship. We tell you which tier fits, whether you even need us, and what the first two weeks look like.
