Venture Command
Accelerator Portfolio Platform

Gave a digital accelerator real-time visibility into 15+ ventures for the first time. A portfolio command center, per-venture financial tracking, and a milestone management engine that cut board prep from two weeks to twenty minutes and identified $340K in wasted burn before it was gone.

The Challenge
Fifteen Ventures. Zero Unified Visibility. And a Portfolio Flying Blind.
Running an accelerator is not the same as running a single company. It is running fifteen companies simultaneously, each at a different stage, each with different metrics that matter, each burning cash at a different rate, and each requiring different kinds of attention. The accelerator’s leadership team was doing this with spreadsheets, Slack channels, and monthly check-in calls. There was no single place to see the entire portfolio. No way to compare burn rates across ventures. No way to spot the venture that quietly doubled its infrastructure spending without telling anyone. No way to know which ventures were actually hitting milestones and which ones were just busy. The portfolio was invisible to the people responsible for governing it.
Financial tracking was the most painful gap. Each venture tracked its own expenses in its own way. Some used QuickBooks. Some used Google Sheets. One used a combination of bank statement PDFs and a text file. Shared resources made it worse. When three ventures share the same developer, or two ventures run on the same infrastructure, or the accelerator pays for a design tool subscription that five ventures use, allocating those costs accurately becomes a full-time accounting exercise. Nobody was doing it. Shared costs got lumped under “general operations” and the true burn rate per venture was unknowable. Budget overruns were discovered weeks or months after they happened, when the damage was already done.
The second gap was operational visibility. Ventures that spawn sub-ventures (a SaaS company that also builds a marketplace component, or a media brand that launches eleven content properties) created layers of complexity that flat spreadsheets could not represent. Which sub-venture was generating revenue? Which one was purely a cost center? Which milestones blocked which other milestones across the portfolio? When a venture lead said “we are on track,” there was no data to confirm or challenge that claim. Stage gate decisions, the critical moments when leadership decides whether a venture advances from ideation to build, or from build to growth, were made on gut feel and slide decks rather than measured criteria. Some ventures lingered in the wrong stage for months because nobody had the data to force the conversation.
The accelerator needed a system that could hold the full complexity of a multi-venture portfolio: parent ventures and sub-ventures, shared resources and isolated costs, stage-specific KPIs and portfolio-level health indicators, milestone dependencies and risk registers. And it needed to be live, not a quarterly snapshot compiled after the fact.
Portfolio Command Center
The central nervous system for the entire accelerator. Every venture, every metric, one screen. Health indicators surface problems before they become emergencies. Sub-ventures nest under parent ventures without losing detail. Leadership stopped guessing and started governing with data.
Financial Management Engine
Per-venture and portfolio-wide financial tracking that replaced a patchwork of spreadsheets and accounting tools. Budget vs. actual with variance alerts. Shared resource allocation calculated automatically. Runway projections updated daily. The system that found $340K in wasted burn and turned quarterly investor reports into a ten-minute export.
Venture Tracker & Milestone Engine
Operational tracking for every venture in the portfolio. Kanban boards, milestone dependencies, stage gate reviews, weekly update feeds, risk registers, and custom KPI dashboards. The system that pushed weekly update compliance from 40% to 94% and made stage gate decisions data-driven instead of gut-driven.

What we Delivered
Portfolio Command Center
Every venture, every metric, one screen. Health indicators surface problems before they become emergencies. Sub-ventures nest under parent ventures. Filter by stage, health, industry, or founder. Board prep in twenty minutes.
Burn Rate Monitor
Real-time cash tracking per venture. Runway calculations update daily. Budget variance alerts trigger before overruns. Three-scenario projections show best case, worst case, and current trajectory.
Sub-Venture Mapping
Ventures that spawn products get their own tracking. Nested views keep complexity organized without losing detail. Parent burn rates roll up from child costs. Hidden cost centers become visible.
Resource Allocation
Shared developers, designers, and infrastructure tracked across ventures. True cost per venture calculated automatically. Time-based, usage-based, and headcount-based allocation modes. Over-allocation alerts prevent burnout.
Milestone Pipeline
Stage gates, dependencies, and deliverables. Each venture has a clear path with data-backed advancement criteria. Milestones auto-complete when linked tasks finish. Dependencies prevent out-of-order progression.
Founder Updates
Weekly updates in a unified feed. Leadership reviews all ventures in one sitting. Automated reminders push compliance to 94%. Confidence tracking reveals trends that metrics miss.
